This has the potential to be an amazing trance piece. However, right now it is SUPER weak. Why? Here are my suggestions - which I found to help me out. ( AND if u ever try and quote me, only look at my "Lost Solace - Preview", the rest of my stuff is from when I was just playing around )

Intro - U began extremely slow which is okay if ur going to speed up later, but that did not happen. Try 140 - 145 BPM.

Also with trance - u need to make things feel - crowded. Also get those chords some real reverb -they were dry.

U need to add some Cymbals, and also make those claps bigger.

And of course make those kicks strong ( use Soundgoodizer )
;)

Hey, Thanks for the review.

I agree about the kicks and the crowdedness. I don't have so much experience with kicks/cymbals yet. Though I have a song I uploaded today where I put alot of effort in the kick and cymbals (song: Hello). However in this song I forgot them or did not have enough experience for this genre song to apply them.

I think the BPM is a matter of opinion. I recorded the melody on the piano at about this BPM so it feels natural.

And about quoting you. I listened to "Lost Solace". And the song is right in the tuning, mixing, kicks, build ups EVERYTHING. But it doesn't give me that goosbumbs feeling, the feeling that songs give me when they come from the heart. And I hear this in alot of songs on newgrounds. It's the melody. I have a feeling you didn't record it from a keyboard or piano. The melody is weak. And that is what separates producers in the end. A good example of perfect melody "Deadmau5". Because people don't seem to understand what make's a good song and why.

This needs to be a progressive track - u essentially began the beginning like a pad break like an intro which of course, i guess is creative style. However, from the perspective of most professional DJ's ( excluding myself) including TYAS or maybe even ALEX M.O.R.P.H., u really want to start the piece off by a string of kicks ( with power ). Also with transitions - I hear so many people using "dead" pauses as transitions - do not use those. Instead use a nice sweep. in place of a reverbkick - which I think u used. And finally for the ending make it strong - essentially break down the song by layers - if u understand.

Thats pretty much it.

Thanks for the critique!

This is some really cool sounding - Techno/dance. I really feel like this is a heavy dance mix. Also try and - u know make a longer version.

Super glad u extended the last version - ESTA CANCION ES SUPER <

3 words - Paul Van D - this "trance" song is super short and really light - reminds of a "weak" dance song. However dont think weak is bad. Some trance pieces are hard and some are in the middle.

Well, talk about punk - this reminds of stagnant electronica. I voted 4, because if this is ur first try then well it was pretty good. Alot of people think trance is just another genre that sounds exactly like techno - its really not - after listening to a couple thousand trance pieces you learn what trance is super fast.

First off - instead a skipping kick , try a constant thud or boom " boom","boom",boom" u know like progressive trance. You pretty much got the bass down, but try and mix up the melody. Also with trance u want to use sweep - the white sounds that go " swoooooooosh" - those make for dramatic entrys, and exits.
I myself have a perfect example of that on one of my pieces ( previews ), but of course I only have 1 trance piece so far - ( I have others just not uploaded )
Hope that helps - not trying to sound too bossy.

I do listen to a ton of trance, and I agree. This is not really trance. It's just that NG does not have a genre for whatever this is better classified as. If there is a genre this would fit better that NG has, I'll be sure to change it. And don't worry, I have an actual trance song as you described in the works, just don't know where to go with it. Thanks a ton for the comment though!

I really think this song could evolve into something AMAZING - I mean it really has techno and trance mixed. I voted a 5 - which is Rare surprisingly - It would be really nice- if u changed the melody - from what you have now to some thing "evolved". Also I think less piano and more synths would have made this greater, as well as a more powerful ending. But of course - being on a plane does give constrictions.

Techno - this is so techno. Has some cool trance attributes, but this is an awesome techno piece , however its way too short - elongate.

DJRQ responds:

Thanks mate. I was really pondering which one to pick - but it isn't quite techno, it isn't quite trance, it isn't quite dance... so I picked Trance as genre, mostly because I had been listening to this song for over 74 hours and was in complete and utter trance. Indeed o(^_^)O Thanks for the nice review and the five stars - I'll consult you when I'm picking the genre for my new project.

Hey no fair - u cant use that name from NEXUS! and get to use the chords to make an awesome piece! - great trance.

keosni391 responds:

haha didn't use it from nexus, but from z3ta+ ^^

I gave this a 5 because it deserved one - the pad was great, the plucks were nice too. And it actually sounded like a real trance song. ( Unlike some zero bombers i understand professional trance )

combatplayer responds:

thanks man :) i really appreciate it!
